WE'LL EXPERIENCE a wide variety of terrain from thick Sal and bamboo forests to grassy meadows and rocky ravines, the perfect habitat for a large population of tigers, as well as a significant number of leopards, sloth bears, and Indian wild dogs. With over 200 recorded bird species, the park is also a birdwatchers’ paradise.

We stay three nights at the exclusive Taj Banjaar Tola situated along the banks of the Banjaar River, directly overlooking the heart of Kanha National Park. The luxurious, yet lightweight, ensuite tents have been designed in a contemporary style, with pressed bamboo wall panels, gorgeous bamboo floors, and locally crafted furniture hewn from the timber of exotic Indian trees.

About Kashmir, since the G-20 Tourism meeting in Kashmir valley, there has been a huge influx of tourists to Kashmir. This summer after more than three decades of being banned, Shia Muslims gathered by the thousands to celebrate the first months of the Islamic lunar calendar, one of the holiest events of the year. The hotels and roads have been upgraded, and the economy is growing once again, thanks to the tourism sector. We are confident that the US State Department will be lowering its security level to give the green light for travel soon.

The Kashmir valley is rich with history, culture, cuisine, and incredible arts and crafts (bring an extra duffle bag for your treasures) made by master artisans.

The program will have three nights in Delhi to ease out of jetlag, enjoy orientations to the city and an evening with two of Kathleen’s longest standing friends, who live in Delhi.
